Blogs are dangerous

In class today we discussed the different types of blogs out there. They include professional, financial, business, media, political, and video.
It appears to me that blogs are dangerous because they are always a way that people can learn more about you, and then leverage that knowledge against you. If you make a stand on any topic, you will usually polarize your audience either for or against you. You are never positive who your next reader will be. It could be your next boss and he hates what you wrote about a subject 3 years ago, or he could love it. Either way why risk having the information out there, because if someone does not like what you think, they don't need to know about it, at least giving you the benefit of the doubt.
